Leek

Leek

Conway F1

First/second early hybrid variety. Can be sown in modules in January, giving an early, heavy crop when prices are often at a premium. Medium blue-green foliage, good length shanks with little or no tendency to bulb. Good resistance to bolting.

Longbow

Tozer bred. Medium green leaves with long shanks. Tried and trusted variety for the open market and farm shops. Ideal for late autumn production before the serious frosts set in.

Toledo

Widely grown as a very reliable late leek. Toledo has dark blue-green erect leaves with an excellent long shank for this time of year. Will follow on from Neptune giving good quality leeks into March.

Zermatt (Swiss Giant)

The earliest in our series of open pollinated varieties. In great demand for the baby leek market. Long shank, with erect leaves and a good base. Has some rust resistance. Also excellent for full size leeks. A top class variety.

Neptune (Blue Green Autumn)

Another in our series of outstanding open pollinated leeks. Neptune follows on from Tornado into the spring. Hardy, dark blue-green plants with a good shaft length. Has some rust resistance and peels well for a quick pack out.

Oarsman F1

Midseason maturity cropping from mid October. Terrific vigour and uniformity with a medium shank and dark erect leaves. Proving to be a popular choice with growers.

Tornado (Autumn Mammoth)

Tozer bred open pollinated variety maturing after Zermatt. Again, excellent for full size production and can also be used as a baby leek. The plants are bold, with mid green leaves and a good shank.

TZ 0050 F1 (for trial)

A bold, heavy leek, with a well coloured dark green flag. It has an excellent white to pale green ratio, is easy to peel, and matures December into early January. High pack out of top quality leeks.

TZ 0165 F1 (for trial)

Maincrop variety that also performs well in earlier and later plantings. Our heaviest yielder in trials. Dark blue-green erect foliage showing good field resistance to rust. Bulky, well filled shanks which are easy to strip and peel. A strong root structure suggests this variety will perform well in organic situations.

TZ 0233 F1 (for trial)

Second early variety that bulks quickly. Good dark blue-green foliage which contrasts well with the lengthy white shank. Trials have shown this variety to be a consistent performer with good uniformity, bulbing resistance and field resistance to rust.
