Parsnip

Parsnip

Albion F1

Albion has a very white skin finish which is noticeably slow to discolour. Roots are of an obovate shape which taper nicely, filling well down the root length making it suitable for retail trade and also popular for processing. Albion produces heavy yields and is suitable for early to main season sowing with lifting from autumn to mid winter.

Gladiator F1

Gladiator presents a refined regular obovate root shape with white skin and strong resistance to root canker. It is very early bulking and is ideal for lifting through to late autumn in the UK.

Javelin F1

Consistent, reliable, flexible and very well proven Javelin is probably the most commercially successful Parsnip variety ever. Javelin produces an obtriangular slender wedge shaped root; ideal for the pre-pack market. Shallow to level crowns make for easy cleaning and the skin appearance is white to very light cream in colour with excellent canker resistance. Javelin can be sown throughout the sowing year and its tremendous field holding capacity means it can be cropped almost continually from July to June.

Archer F1

A heavier 'bolder' parsnip of more traditional obovate to broad obtriangular shape. Long uniform roots with the traditional parsnip off white /pale cream colour. Best sown in the main spring period and lifted before January.

Cobham Improved Marrow

Good resistance to canker. Refined shape and smooth white skin. Holds well for late harvest.

Dagger F1

Dagger has very slender roots of a narrow obtriangular shape. Smooth white skin with high crowns make for relatively easy cleaning. Sown at higher densities Dagger will produce large quantities of regular uniform roots ideal for the pre-pack market demands. Sown at lower densities it will fill well down the root producing heavy yields. In terms of root shape, Dagger could be described as being the parsnip nearest to looking like a large traditional carrot. Ideally sown in the spring and lifted before the turn of the year.

Lancer

Lancer produces excellent yields of obtriangular shaped roots with a white skin. It is best sown in the main spring period with lifting in the autumn and early winter.

White Spear

White Spear has very white smooth skin and bulks extremely rapidly in the spring from an early sowing. Its root shape is obovate. It is best lifted in the early summer months. Later sowings will hold into the autumn but the growing period to harvest suitability is always short. White Spear will continue to grow past the ideal market size and can produce enormous roots if allowed to grow on.
